Citric acid is well known as a key component of the way a human body produces cellular energy. Also known as the Krebs cycle, happening within all respiring organisms is several steps and chemical reactions, of which citric acid plays a key role, that ends in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) (a form of energy your body can readily use in its biological processes).
